Meet Our Volunteers – Marion
June 9, 2023
We have many wonderful and dedicated volunteers at Community Care and we want to share their stories about why they chose to volunteer with us. This week we meet Marion, a long standing volunteer with CCCKL!
Marion has volunteered with Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes since 2015. During her time with CCCKL, she has volunteered with our Diners Clubs, Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Program, Volunteer Transportation and many more! She chose CCCKL as a place to volunteer because of the many services provided for Kawartha Lakes residents. Not only does she see this as a benefit for our community, but this also meant there were many areas for her to get involved. Volunteering also fits her schedule, with the opportunity to volunteer daily, weekly or monthly.
Marion also has also been a client of CCCKL and felt it was important to give back. “My husband passed away in 2019 from cancer and during the preceding two years while he was ill, CCCKL Hospice and Palliative Care were invaluable resources available to both of us,” says Marion. “I don’t know how we would have got through that time without their help and support. I worked for 51 years and now it is time to give back”.
When she’s not volunteering with CCCKL, Marion enjoys going to the theatre, making jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her cat and dogs. She says her favourite thing about Kawartha Lakes is the people. “Since the day we moved here everyone has been so nice and friendly. There is so much to do here and great services for retirees. The area is beautiful no matter what the season.”
Thank you Marion for your dedication, care and compassion to Community Care!
