The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance of the Foundation and is comprised of volunteers from the community. Its members set the the Community Care Foundation’s strategic priorities and ensure they’re met; they assess the quality of the care provided, and ensure financial resources are managed appropriately. In addition to monthly Board meetings, members serve on various committees of the Board.
The 2025-26 Community Care Foundation Board includes the following members:

Paul Davidson
Chair
Paul Davidson was born and raised in Kawartha Lakes and is a Senior Financial Advisor with a local financial institute.
Paul has been a Director with the Foundation since 2017 following 10 years as an Officer and Director on the Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes Board.

Sheryl Benson
Past Chair
Sheryl brings over 30 years of experience in financial planning and wealth management to the Board of Directors. Throughout her career, she has advised individuals, families, and business owners on financial strategies, retirement planning, and portfolio development.
Sheryl began her professional journey as a financial advisor, advancing her education and expertise to become an Investment Broker. She continued to provide clients with comprehensive investment and planning guidance, and currently serves as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), helping individuals navigate their financial futures with confidence.
A dedicated community leader, Sheryl has served on the Community Care Foundation Board for over six years, including as Chair from 2023 to 2025. She is deeply passionate about supporting Community Care in Kawartha Lakes and takes pride in the organization’s role in enhancing the well-being of those who need it most.

Alex Richardson
Treasurer
Alex is from Kawartha Lakes and attended High School (LCVI) in Lindsay through 1967. He then attended Carleton University from 1968 through 1974 and graduated with a degree in Political Science. Alex has worked with GH Ward & Partners succeeded by Ward Mallette, succeeded by BDO Dunwoody, succeeded by BDO Canada from 1975 through retirement in 2016 with 32 years as a partner in the Lindsay office with shorter service terms in Peterborough, Cobourg and London offices. He Functioned as a licenced public accountant offering audit, accounting and taxation services
Alex served on Boards of Cambridge St United Church, Five Counties Children’s Center, Victoria County Museum, Lindsay Art Gallery and Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Provincial PC Association.
He has been married to his wife Debbie for 47 years and has two daughters and five grandchildren

Steve Strangway
From the Fenelon Falls area, Steve is a familiar face throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. Steve’s 12 years serving on the City of Kawartha Lakes Council has helped him gain a great understanding of his community. He has served on numerous Boards and Committees such as, but not limited to: Kawartha Lakes Accessibility Committee, the Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative, and the Fenelon Area Independent Living Association. Further to this, Steve is the past President of the Fenelon Falls Probus Club and has successful grown membership to 350 members. Steve and Marion live on the south shore of Balsam Lake. They have two children and three grandchildren ages 14, 13 and 11.

Erin Attard
Erin lives in the Cameron area with her family, and has supported Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes in a volunteer capacity since 2013. Erin is an ambassador for Hospice Services having provided leadership for many years to a number of grief support programs, such as Healing After Suicide Loss. Erin also brings a banking background having been a Branch Manager and Financial Advisor throughout her professional career. Erin is thrilled at the prospect of leveraging her commitment to CCCKL by supporting the governance and fundraising functions of the Community Care Foundation.

Wesley Letsholo
Wesley Letsholo is a Product & Service Procurement expert known for Solution Based Business Approach. He is the owner of LGS Corporation and connects Canadian manufacturers with distributors and resellers. He helps businesses to increase their product and service profile by facilitating the sales process and building meaningful relationships with customers. Wesley has 20 years in the Sales & Service Industry and a Diploma in Business Management.
Wesley is passionate about his community. He is a member of Lindsay Community Care Foundation Board, Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative Board and Lindsay Rotary.

Jim Mackey
Jim is the husband of Janet, father of three and granddad to nine. He is a native of Lindsay and is known to many in the City of Kawartha Lakes. As a third generation funeral director for many years, he has supported families through some of life’s most challenging circumstances. On top of his business experience, Jim has enjoyed serving on the Boards of the Skylark VIII, and during the early years of VCARS, Victim Services and Referral, as well as maintaining active membership in the Rotary Club of Lindsay for over 30 years. Jim’s combination of business experience, willingness to learn, and commitment to his community is a welcomed addition to the Community Care Foundation Board of Directors.

Susan Taylor
Susan brings extensive experience in the fine arts and not-for-profit management sectors. She has played a key role in the growth and evolution of the Kawartha Lakes Art Gallery, progressing from board member to Chair, and ultimately to Executive Director. Through this journey, Susan has developed a deep understanding of both the not-for-profit landscape and the unique needs of the Kawartha Lakes community.
Under her leadership, the Gallery has built strong programming partnerships with local organizations to address critical social issues such as Indigenous identity, mental health and addiction, poverty, violence, and challenges facing youth. In collaboration with Pinnguaq, Susan successfully secured a multi-year grant to support Indigenous youth and the arts in partnership with Curve Lake First Nation.
In 2024, thanks to Susan’s advocacy and strategic direction, the Gallery secured municipal support for its planned relocation to a dedicated building, set to open in late Fall 2025. Her experience working with community stakeholders and engaging with municipal leadership will be a valuable asset to the Community Care Foundation.
Susan is passionate about her community and is committed to helping ensure that accessible healthcare services are available to those who need them most. She looks forward to supporting the Foundation’s mission to raise funds that help Community Care deliver care in the right place, at the right time.
