Transportation

Transportation

Community Care offers safe, reliable, and affordable transportation for residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes. Whether you’re heading to a medical appointment, running errands, or attending a social outing, our transportation program helps you get where you need to go — locally and beyond.

We offer two options: volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles, or specialized transportation drivers who operate wheelchair and stretcher-accessible vans.

Specialized Transportation

Our specialized vans are fully equipped to accommodate wheelchairs and stretchers. Operated by trained drivers, this service provides safe, accessible transportation for medical appointments, outings, and community activities.

Volunteer Transportation

Our volunteer drivers use their personal vehicles to help clients get to medical appointments, errands, and social outings. It’s an affordable, friendly, and flexible option for those who do not require accessible transport.

We kindly ask that you provide a minimum of seven days notice for your ride requests. It is important to note that ride requests to Toronto require at least two weeks notice.

New to Our Program?

If you’ve never used our transportation services before, you’ll need to complete a short intake appointment with our team.

Returning Client?

If you’re already registered with our transportation program, you can book your next ride online.

Become a Volunteer Driver

Do you enjoy driving and helping others stay connected to their community? Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to help clients get to appointments, run errands, and maintain their independence. Volunteer drivers are reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses such as fuel, insurance and vehicle maintenance.

Even a few hours a month can make a big difference in someone’s life. Be the heart of Community Care.

Why Transportation Matters
