Established in 1994 by Hospice Palliative Care Ontario, the June Callwood Award recognizes outstanding hospice volunteers who have made exceptional contributions to hospice palliative care across the province. Named in honour of the late June Callwood, celebrated journalist, author, humanitarian, and passionate advocate for hospice care, the award recognizes volunteers whose compassion and dedication have made a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Since joining Community Care’s Hospice Services as a volunteer in 2016, Robyn has contributed nearly 1,000 volunteer hours while supporting patients, families, and individuals experiencing grief throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Her volunteer service spans many areas of Hospice, including providing compassionate support on the Palliative Care Unit at Ross Memorial Hospital, facilitating grief support programs for adults, teens, and children, and serving as a valued facilitator with the STARS youth grief program. Robyn has a special gift for connecting with children and youth, helping them navigate grief with kindness, understanding, and reassurance during some of life’s most difficult moments.

In addition to her direct client support, Robyn has become a familiar face at community events, where her warmth and genuine interest in others help raise awareness of Hospice Services. She has also played an important role in fundraising efforts, including serving as Chair of Handbags for Hospice.

Throughout her years of service, Robyn has touched countless lives through her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to supporting others. Her positive impact extends far beyond the individuals and families she serves, creating a lasting ripple effect throughout our community.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Robyn as part of our Hospice team of volunteers,” said Community Care’s Hospice Services team. “This recognition reflects the dedication, heart, positivity, and genuine care she brings to our hospice family every day. We are delighted to see her receive this well-deserved honour.”

Congratulations, Robyn, on this remarkable achievement, and thank you for the compassion, comfort, and hope you continue to bring to our community.
