Bobcaygeon Curling Club Raises Over $18,000 for Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes Through Charity Bonspiel

(Kawartha Lakes, ON) The Bobcaygeon Curling Club has once again demonstrated its commitment to the local community by raising an impressive $18,267 through their charity bonspiel. The funds raised this year will support Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes and their mission to provide health and community support services to individuals and families in need across the region.
The charity bonspiel, which brought together curling members and businesses within Kawartha Lakes for some fundraising and friendly competition, has become a cornerstone event for the curling club. This year’s charity bonspiel saw 96 curlers participate in the event, underscoring the generosity and support of the local community.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of the Bobcaygeon Curling Club,” said Ryan Alexander, CEO of Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes. “The funds raised will help bring the right care to the right place for those in need in Bobcaygeon and the broader City of Kawartha Lakes community. From meal deliveries, to transportation rides, to hospice services, these funds help bring care to our community. This event truly shows the power of community coming together for a great cause.”
The Bobcaygeon Curling Club has been hosting its charity bonspiel for many years, seeing an increase in participation and funds raised. The event has become a much-anticipated tradition, bringing together members of the club, local businesses, and residents in a spirit of giving.
“We are proud to be part of such a supportive and generous community,” said Barb Hetherington, a member of the Bobcaygeon Curling Club and this year’s Chairperson of the charity bonspiel. “It’s incredible to see how much we’ve been able to raise this year, and we’re excited to continue this tradition in the future.”
In addition to the competitive curling, the charity bonspiel featured auction items and prizes provided by local sponsors and community donors, all of which contributed to the event’s record-breaking success. Local businesses and volunteers played a key role in ensuring the event ran smoothly to raise as much as possible for Community Care. “The charity bonspiel is an extra special curling event,” said Joanne Waite, President of the Bobcaygeon Curling Club. “Curling is a fun and inclusive sport, and being able to use our event to raise money for such a worthwhile cause makes it all the more meaningful.”
The partnership between the Bobcaygeon Curling Club and Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes continues to strengthen, and both organizations are looking forward to future collaborations that will benefit the community even further.
