Meet Our Volunteers – Nicole
July 13, 2023
We have many wonderful and dedicated volunteers at Community Care and we want to share their stories about why they chose to volunteer with us. This month we meet Nicole!

Nicole has volunteered with Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes for roughly 8 years and during her time with CCCKL, she has supported recreational activities through our Adult Day Program (ADP). Nicole says that volunteering with CCCKL makes you feel that you are doing good for the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. She also feels that being a volunteer gives her a sense of pride and identity.
She heard clients mention that they would like to have more activities, such as exercise classes or have holiday gatherings, and has since helped arrange a number of recreational activities and events for our ADP clients. “I decided to throw a Halloween party, and it was a huge success. Many clients got very interested and involved with wanting to help, and many helped to make costumes. After that, it struck something inside me. I asked myself if I could do more to help some of these clients get involved, meet others, help with depression, and just have some fun. I then began to plan a party once a month, from big birthday parties, anniversary parties, and themed parties. It has been very rewarding since day one.”
When she’s not volunteering with CCCKL, Nicole enjoys making the most of life in Kawartha Lakes with camping, boating and visiting local attractions like Balsam Lake Provincial Park.
Thank you Nicole for your dedication, care and compassion to Community Care!
